P.O.D. isn’t the only band that with religious members that don’t generally sing about their faith. Here’s a list of other prominent bands that fit into the ‘we’re Christian but we don’t make religious music’ camp.
Chevelle: Second album from the Chicago-area rockers, Wonder What’s Next, went platinum. Follow-up album is due in summer 2004.
Creed: Multiplatinum Florida rockers avoid the “Christian band” label, though singer Scott Stapp’s lyrics reflect his Christian upbringing.
Dashboard Confessional: Sing-along emo-hunk Chris Carrabba fronted the Christian-market band Further Seems Forever before breaking big.
Evanescence: Little Rock goth-rock band’s debut album, Fallen, recently was certified triple platinum.
MxPx: Washington state punk rockers recently released Before Everything & After.
Sixpence None the Richer:Kiss Me fueled a successful breakout from the Christian pop market.
Switchfoot:The Beautiful Letdown, first album for Columbia, is approaching gold status.
U2: Perhaps the model citizens for combining faith and rock ‘n’ roll. Singer Bono recently reached out to American churches in battling AIDS crisis.
