Usher looks set to star in a new movie being billed as an urban Saturday Night Fever.

The R ‘n’ B singer would also be executive producer for the film, Step in the Name of Love.

MGM has bought the script as a vehicle for him, reports Variety.

The film is set in the world of steppin’, a Chicago-bred derivative of swing dancing.

Usher, who is currently top of the album charts with Confessions, has previously taken roles in films such as Light It Up and She’s All That.

He plays Jackie Wilson in the upcoming Unchain My Heart: The Ray Charles Story, starring Jamie Foxx and directed by Taylor Hackford.
