Usher has turned Eminem’s world upside down.

Last week, the Eminem -led D12 World ended Usher’s five-week run at number one on the album chart, but in this week’s rematch, the R&B crooner is back on top of the world. Usher’s Confessions climbed back by selling 70,000 more copies than D12 World for the week ended Sunday.

Confessions retook the top slot with 267,000 in sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan numbers released Wednesday. That’s up 7,000 copies the previous week.

Eminem’s rap collective D12, meanwhile, slipped to second place with 197,000 copies, a 347,000-copy drop off from its opening salvo.

R&B superstar Prince, on the other hand, remained consistent as Musicology held at three for its third straight week, selling another 150,000 discs.

New York-based, North Carolina-bred rapper Petey Pablo landed the week’s highest debut at number four as Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry sold 117,000 copies. His first single, “Freak-A-Leek,” features a guest appearance by Lil Jon, who also appears in Usher’s breakout single “Yeah!”

Thanks to Mother’s Day, two former chart powerhouses reentered the Top 10. Norah Jones ‘ Feels Like Home sold 90,000 copies, a bump of 35,000, to hop three spots to number eight. Likewise, the mom-friendly Josh Groban leapt nine spots to number nine as Closer’s sales climbed 36,000 for a 79,000-copy finish.

The rest of the Top 10 were holdovers: Diana Krall ‘s Girl in the Other Room at five, Hoobastank’s The Reason at six, Mario Winans’ Hurt No More at eight and Now That’s What I Call Music! Vol. 15 at 10.

Popular Christian rockers Third Day landed the week’s second-best bow with Wire; the disc sold 61,000 copies at number 12. (Ironically, a few years ago the seminal punk group Wire released an album called Third Day.) Totally Hits 2004, a collection of overplayed radio songs, followed at 14 with 60,000 units sold.

American Idol alumna Kimberley Locke made a solid showing as her debut album, One Love, sold nearly 57,000 copies for a number 16 bow. Locke topped the singles’ chart with “8th World Wonder” in mid-March, but the track was soon overtaken by another Idol star, Clay Aiken, whose “Solitaire/The Way” single has remained number one since March 31.

Several other prominent debuts showed the record companies had Mother’s Day in mind when crafting their release schedules. Patti LaBelle ‘s Timeless Journey opened at 18, Carly Simon ‘s Reflections: Greatest Hits at 22, Lee Ann Womack ‘s Greatest Hits at 28, Lionel “Say You, Say Me” Richie’s Just for You at 50, and Carolyn Dawn Johnson ‘s Dress Rehearsal at 65.

Other noteworthy new chart entries included Flaw’s Endangered Species at 42, Los Lobos’ Ride at 75, the country duo Big & Rich’s Horse of a Different Color at 89, Buzz’ self-titled at 138, Magnetic Fields’ i at 162, and comedian David Cross ‘s It’s Not Funny at 194.

Several best-of collections and live albums also trickled onto the charts this week: Sevendust’s Southside Double-Side Acoustic Live at 90, Jim Brickman ‘s Greatest Hits at 134, Styx’s Come Sail Away: Anthology at 136, Wave of Mutilation: Best of the Pixies at 161, Willie Nelson ‘s DVD/CD combo Live at Billy Bob’s Texas at 168, and Israel Houghton & New Breed’s worship album Live from Another Level at 189.
