The Spice Girls are said to be planning a sensational comeback for Live Aid II. It would be the first time Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger have performed together since Geri Halliwell quit the group in 1998.
The concert is being organised by Bob Geldof and will take place in Hyde Park on 2 July. Halliwell, 32, Victoria Beckham, 31, Mel Chisholm, 31, Mel Brown, 29, and Emma Bunton, 29, are now said to be deciding on what songs to perform. A source close to the event said: “It will be a fantastic addition to a stellar line-up.”
The girls were said to be planning a reunion for next year, but the charity showcase, which will raise money for the fight against world poverty, will bring them together much sooner.
The concert is being dubbed Live 8 because it will put pressure on the leaders of the wealthy nations taking part in the G8 summit in Scotland four days later. Other acts to have signed up so far include U2, Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Madonna.
The Spice Girls officially split when Chisholm left in 2001, and they have since enjoyed mixed fortunes in their solo careers.
Brown, Bunton and Beckham’s attempts at going solo failed when their label dumped them.

I’m not opposed to charity events of any kind, but are the Spice Girls really going to draw anybody to this concert? I don’t think anyone has forgotten that they can’t sing. Maybe they’re planning a late 90’s revival tour with Limp Bizkit and the Backstreet Boys.
Live Aid has the potential to be a great event, but drawing high publicity culture shocks like the Spice Girls is just ridiculous. Why bother enlisting such a terrible act when the likes of U2 and Oasis can get involved? It may be a charity event, but just because it’s money for a good cause doesn’t mean they shouldn’t bother their arses putting on a good show.
