The Spice Girls will get free flights on Virgin Atlantic airline during their upcoming comeback world tour.
“Virgin signed the Spice Girls 12 years ago and I got to know them at that time,” Richard Branson, chairman of the Virgin Group, said Thursday. Branson’s record company released the Spice Girls’ first single, “Wannabe,” in 1996.
It is the airline’s first such tie-up with a band. Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Victoria Beckham will be involved in other promotions as part of the deal.
The Spice Girls were one of the biggest acts of the ’90s with more than 55 million records sold. They broke up in 2001.
Their reunion tour will begin Dec. 2 in Vancouver, Canada. Other stops include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, London and Madrid, Spain.
