Clear Channel Urban WWPR (Power 105)/New York fired it’s popular morning host Star, whose real name is Troi Torain, Wednesday (5/10) after making a series of ugly, racist and violent on-air remarks including a threat to sexually molest the young daughter of a rival deejay, DJ Envy of WQHT (Hot 97), on his syndicated Star & Buc Wild Morning Show.
Torain offered listeners $500 to tell him where DJ Envy’s daughter went to school as he continued his rant on what he would do the young child he referred to as Envy’s “seed.”
“Yes, I disrespect your seed,” Torain ranted in a transcript obtained from New York Councilman John Liu’s office. “If you didn’t hear me, I said I would like to do an R. Kelly on your seed. On your little baby girl.”
Torain’s referenced Kelly, who allegedly committed an unnatural act on an underage girl, a stunt captured on a widely circulated video. He also warned that he carries a gun, and called the wife of DJ Envy, whose real name is Rashawn Casey, a “whore,” among other things.
“Power 105 finds recent remarks broadcast by Troi Torain of the Star & Buc Wild Morning Show to be wholly unacceptable,” said Clear Channel Market Manager Rob Williams. “As of late this afternoon, he is no longer with Power 105.1 or Clear Channel Radio. We sincerely apologize to those who may have been offended by his remarks.”
Councilman Liu said Torain’s words merited his being “terminated from the face of the Earth,” has filed a complaint with the FCC, where investigators told him that it appears Torain’s comments could affect the station’s broadcasting license.
