The ongoing feud between Eminem and the Source magazine has shifted to the courtroom. On Tuesday (December 16), a federal court judge granted Eminem an injunction barring the magazine from including copies of an early song by the rapper that featured racially derogatory lyrics in the magazine’s February issue, which was slated to hit newsstands on January 13, according to MTV.com.

Eminem and his lawyers filed the lawsuit in federal court in New York on Monday (December 15) which accused the magazine of copyright infringement. The rapper is also seeking unspecified damages.

In November, the Source magazine held a press conference to play a tape of an early recording from the rapper that featured racially derogatory comments about African American women. Eminem released a formal apology citing his age and a recent breakup with an African American woman as the reasons for the racially derogatory comments.

The magazine countered that the rapper lied about being 15 years old at the time of the recording and that he was actually 21 years old.

Eminem and the Source magazine co-owner Ray Benzino have been involved in a war of words for over a year. Benzino has accused Eminem of being one of the forces corrupting hip-hop, and during a concert in June at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, Eminem hurled his 2000 Source Award for Lyricist Of The Year to the ground.
