Christina Aguilera has been chosen to host a new MTV documentary about sexual abstinence.

The new programme will give teenagers a deeper knowledge about political issues and US laws, as well as essential information about sex.

Her documentary, Sex, Votes and Higher Power, which airs next week, will give the star the chance to speak to youngsters who have promised to remain virgins until they wed.

Aguilera reportedly grabbed the chance to be a part of the programme, which deals with sex education, abortion and domestic violence, after reading up on some shocking statistics.

“Every year one in four sexually active teens gets a sexually transmitted disease and more than one in three young women gets pregnant before aged 20, almost always by accident,” the singer said.
