Philadelphia-based rapper Cassidy is scheduled to turn himself in Friday (June 17) to face murder charges in relation to the shooting death of a 22-year-old man on April 15 in northwest Philadelphia. MTV.com reports that a warrant was issued for the rapper’s arrest on June 8. Cassidy, whose real name is Barry Reese, will be charged with conspiracy, weapons possession, and homicide when he turns himself in.

According to authorities, Cassidy and two other men armed with .45 and .40 caliber handguns, 9 millimeter pistols, AK-47 assault rifles, and 7.62 millimeter rifles, opened fire on three unarmed men during an argument just before 1 a.m. ET on April 15.

One of the victims, Desmond Hawkins of Philadelphia, died from a gunshot wound to the back. The two other men were treated and released from area hospitals. Police have also issued a warrant for a second man, 23-year-old Abdul West, also of Philadelphia. The authorities are still trying to identify the third shooter but believe that Cassidy, West, and the third suspect all knew each other.

Cassidy is slated to release his sophomore album, I’m A Hustla, on June 28.
