Rapper Cam’ron has always been a wrestling fan and a fan of Wrestling Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano, who was prominently featured in Cyndi Lauper’s 1984 “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” video. MTV.com reports that the rapper has recorded a remake of the song which will be the second single from his forthcoming album, Purple Haze.
Cam’ron said, “I always loved the record. I was 4 or 5 when it came out. I was a wrestling fan, and Captain Lou Albano was in the video. At this point in my career, seeing what girls are doing, I thought it was time to bring it back out. They be wilding! I think it’s gonna be a good summer record. The way I wrote my ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun,’ it was a sequel to ‘Stop Calling’ off my last album. The dude keeps calling me, asking about his girl and where she’s at.”
The rapper explained that the video for the song will feature the rapper, his friends, and several women partying on a yacht while a jealous boyfriend chases the yacht in a raft.
Cam’ron’s Purple Haze will be released on June 8. The first single from the set is “Lord Knows” featuring Jaheim.
In related news, Cam’ron and fellow Diplomat, Jim Jones, have launched a new beverage, a grape-flavored, purple-tinted liqueur called Sizzurp.
