Akon might be used to having fans throw themselves at his feet, but Sunday a KFEST attendee threw a small object at the hip-hop singer and hit him on the face, a witness said.
An unidentified boy tossed a small plastic disk – a giveaway from K104 – at the R&B and hiphop singer while he was on stage around 1 p.m.
“There was a kid standing next to me,” Georgie Dewey of Hyde Park said. “He threw it (a small plastic disk), and it hit him (Akon) in the face.”
She said the singer stopped and asked who threw the object. Everybody apparently pointed at the boy.
Dewey said a security guard came out in the audience and pulled the boy up onto the stage. The audience booed the boy.
She said Akon then “tossed” the boy off the stage, apparently in a humorous manner.
It was unclear if the boy was hurt.
Dewey said the singer didn’t seem angry about the incident.
“He made a joke about it,” she said, and then he began singing “Lonely.”
The concert for Dewey was not marred by the incident.
“I had a great time,” she said. “It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.”
Fishkill police did not have any information about the incident Sunday evening.
A call to Jason Finkelberg, general manager for Pamal Broadcasting in the Hudson Valley, which operates K-104, the show’s sponsor, was not immediately returned.
Akon could not be reached for comment.
