Smashing Pumpkins have announced the title and release date of their new album. Billy Corgan’s reformed rock heroes will release the follow-up to MACHINA/The Machines Of God in July.
The band’s first album in seven years is called Zeitgeist, according to a posting on the Pumpkins’ MySpace page.
There is still some confusion around the make-up of the group, with Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain the only confirmed original members.
Smashing Pumpkins have now also announced a total of four live festival dates to back their new album. They are as follows:
June 2 – Nuremburg, Nurburgring
June 3- Nuremburg, Zeppelinfeld
June 15 – Austria, Nova Rock Festival
June 17 Switzerland, Greenfield Festival
“Zeitgeist” is scheduled for release on July 2007.
