Ricky Martin was one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world when he decided to take a break from fame a few years ago. According to the Associated Press, Ricky told People magazine that despite his popularity, he felt something was lacking in his life. Ricky said, “There was a moment (in 2002) when I was onstage and I was just so angry…I thought, ‘Something is wrong. I have the applause, I have a great band behind me, I live comfortably.’ … I was starting to become a victim of fame. Everything was too serious and I wasn’t enjoying it.”

Not long after that incident, Ricky took time off to travel the world and focus on spiritual and charitable pursuits.

The Puerto Rican pop star thinks that taking a break is essential for anyone that’s experiencing career burnout . He said, “When you work, work, work, something is wrong. You need to chill. You need to step aside and see where you’ve been, where you are now and where you want to be.”

Ricky’s third English album, Life, was released last week. The first single from the album, “I Don’t Care” features Fat Joe and Amerie and is at Number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Ricky will be kicking off his tour of Latin America on November 15 in Mexico City, Mexico. The tour is scheduled to wrap in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 12.
