he Fugees have reportedly buried the hatchet and a new album may be in the works. Allhiphop.com reports that all three members of the group–Wyclef Jean, Pras, and Lauryn Hill–are now on speaking terms. Jean said, “All the Fugees are talking. We’re all definitely talking. The energy is definitely good energy. I spoke to Lauryn. I spoke to Pras. And its just real good energy, good vibes.”
Jean warned that fans shouldn’t immediately expect the group to release a new album. He said, “It’s important for the Fugees to come back and just show them what the next chapter is because there’s a whole other chapter that they didn’t touch yet.”
The Fugees’ last release was 1996’s The Score. The set has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.
Following the release of The Score, the group’s three member began to release solo material. Prior to the recent announcement of the group’s reunion, Jean explained that no one ever quit the group. He said: “It’s not like any Fugee member said, ‘I denounce myself from this group. I no longer want to be part of this group.’ Then I’d be like, we’re not doing another Fugee record. Like any group, we went through our fights, our trials, our tribulations and stuff, but I think with this group it’s a little different. Usually other groups break up and people will go like, ‘Yo, let’s watch the death of this one, the death of that one.’
