The Darkness are continuing to make waves in the US, where Justin Hawkins compares their popularity to rabies.
Their debut album, Permission to Land, is now at No 40 in the US charts after jumping more than 130 places in the last two weeks.
Hawkins said: “It’s like the three stages of rabies. First people fear us, then they start foaming at the mouth because they want us. And then they start attacking other people.”
The Darkness are to capitalise on their success by playing a North American tour in March and April and they plan to return to the US in the summer.
Hawkins added: “The only British bands that have made an impact here are the ones that toured relentlessly. And we’ve already made an impact having played about 10 shows.”
