Joe Strummer’s cover version of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song is to be released as a single next month.

The double A side with Arms Aloft will be the second single from the former Clash frontman’s posthumous Streetcore album.

Redemption Song/Arms Aloft will be backed by live tracks from a Joe Strummer and the Mescaleroes gig at Brixton Academy.

There will be two CD versions, backed by Armageddon Time and Pressure Drop, and a 7″ vinyl single, backed by Junco Partner.

The cover of Redemption Song was produced by Rick Rubin and intended as a duet with the late Johnny Cash.

It was included on the album along with tracks Strummer was recording with the Mescaleros before his death at the age of 50 last December.

The duet with Cash will be included on a forthcoming Johnny Cash box set.
